Getting to Bluey Lake: Driving Directions
From Vancouver to Bluey Lake Provincial Park
Head east on Highway 1 (Trans-Canada Highway) toward Hope.
Continue onto BC-5 N towards Merritt and Kamloops.
Take exit 286 for BC-97C E/BC-5A S toward Kelowna.
Drive approximately 40 km on Highway 5A until you see signs for Aspen Grove/Kentucky-Alleyne Provincial Park.
Continue on BC-5A South (for approximately 10 minutes).
Turn left onto Bates Road towards Kentucky-Alleyne Provincial Park.
Before arriving at the provincial park turn right onto the Bluey Lake FSR.
Driving Time: Approximately 3.5 hours.
Bluey Lake FSR: This rough and narrow road is approximately 4 kilometres to the site. The gravel road is deemed to be a 4 x 4 road as it becomes somewhat rough and has a few steep sections the further you go in. There are very few turnouts as well so it is not recommended for large motorhomes, 5th wheels, trailers or cars with low clearance.

From Bates road, continue past Kentucky-Alleyne Provincial Park
Turn left onto Dillard/Loon Lake FSR
Look for a gravel road on your left heading north to Bluey Lake
Follow the gravel road for about 5 km until you reach the south end camping area.
Full details can be found in the Thompson Okanagan BC Backroad Mapbook or via Gaia GPS with a subscription. I’ve included my Gaia map below.
Note: Dillard/Loon Lake FSR becomes quite narrow and exposed as you reach the turn-off for Bluey Lake. The last stretch of road up to the lake is unmaintained, rocky and narrow. 4x4 and high-clearance required, we damaged a tire on this route and woke up to a flat. Luckily we were able to source a repair kit from another group in the campground.
