Whether you’re hitting the trails, chasing waterfalls, or just soaking in the breathtaking mountain views, this spot has it all.

Exploring Revelstoke: Waterfalls, Hikes & Coffee

Chasing Waterfalls: Sutherland & Begbie Falls

Waterfalls are always a must for us when visiting Revelstoke! Both Sutherland Falls and Begbie Falls are just a short drive from Basecamp and are worth the visit.

🛻 Driving Directions from Basecamp Resorts Revelstoke:

  • Sutherland Falls – Head south on Highway 23 for 14 km (8.7 mi). Turn right onto the Blanket Creek Provincial Park entrance road and follow signs to the falls.

  • Begbie Falls – Take Highway 23 south for 11 km (6.8 mi). Turn left onto Begbie Falls Forest Service Road and continue for about 4.5 km (2.8 mi) to the parking area.

🥾 Hike Details:

Sutherland Falls

Sutherland Falls is super accessible, located in Blanket Creek Provincial Park, a scenic 25 minute drive from Revelstoke on Highway 23 South. Once you make your way into the Provincial Park, the falls are just a 5 minute walk from the parking lot.

The falls drop over 10 metres into the stunning and impressive Blanket Creek canyon; they were in full force in July.

We also heard there are fish hanging out in the pools below at certain times of year but didn’t see any.

  • Distance: >1km roundtrip

  • Elevation Gain: >50m

  • Type: Out and Back

  • Difficulty: Easy Hike

  • Location: Blanket Creek Provincial Park

  • Access: Paved Road - 2WD

Insider tip: Once you've reached the falls you can find a small goat trail to the left of the falls that leads you up to the top, from here you can see the pools at the mouth of the falls. Exercise caution on this trail as it is unmaintained and unmarked, there are no guard rails at the top.

Begbie Falls

Begbie Falls has two access points, either via a short, steep trail from the Mount Begbie Forest Service Road or a longer trail from Begbie Bluffs, parking right off the highway.

The shorter trail follows a series of switchbacks through the forest to the falls and a beach with beautiful views across the valley when the river level is low. The Mount Begbie FSR to this point is in good condition and could be managed by a 2WD vehicle with a bit of clearance if you go slow.

  • Distance: 2km roundtrip

  • Elevation Gain: >100m

  • Type: Out and Back

  • Difficulty: Easy Hike

  • Location: Begbie Falls Recreation Site

  • Access: Gravel Road - 2WD

Insider tip: Once you've reached the falls you can continue down the trail to the Columbia River for some great views across the valley towards Revelstoke Mountain Resort.

Coffee & Gear Stop: Dose & Valhalla Pure

Whenever we’re in Revelstoke, Dose Coffee is a non-negotiable stop for us. Their avocado toast is next level, and their in-house roasted coffee is a must-try. We’re also excited to check out their new spin-off café, Alfred’s!

Before heading out on any adventures, we always stop by Valhalla Pure Outfitters Revelstoke to pick up any last-minute gear. Their staff are super knowledgeable, and the selection is excellent.

Gear

I’ve put together a Day Hiking Checklist with a complete list of gear recommendations.

Big Hike: Eva & Miller Lakes in Mount Revelstoke National Park

On this trip, we spent a full day hiking into Eva and Miller Lakes in Mount Revelstoke National Park. Carrying our Red Paddle Co. inflatable SUP all the way up was a serious workout, but totally worth it for an alpine paddle on Miller Lake.

Mount Revelstoke is the only mountain in the Canadian national park system that you can summit in just a short walk from your car. From the upper parking lot the trails in MRNP take you to amazing vistas, through brilliant wildflower meadows, and to stunning alpine lakes.

🛻 Driving Directions from Basecamp:

Take Highway 1 east and turn onto Meadows in the Sky Parkway. Drive 26 km (16 mi) up the winding road to the Balsam Lake parking lot.

Note: Meadows in the Sky Parkway climbs 1600m over 26km to an elevation of 2000m, seasonal road closures are in effect at higher elevations from October to May. Always check the trail and road condition reports or see park staff for the most up to date conditions.

Where We Went Next

After soaking in all that Revelstoke had to offer, we continued our road trip to Golden and Canmore, staying at Basecamp properties in both locations. We also spent time exploring Glacier National Park, which was another incredible stop.

If you’re looking for the perfect blend of comfort, adventure, and stunning scenery, Basecamp Resorts Revelstoke is the place to stay. Whether it’s your first time in Revelstoke or your tenth, you’ll love the cozy accommodations, prime location, and unbeatable mountain vibes.
